A few thoughts by the Artist

My grandmother once told me so many years ago in my childhood that I was an "artist."  That moment perhaps changed my life. Or maybe it clarified it. Being an "artist" is like a search for the "Holy Grail."  So many difficulties to overcome. So many times  "I have arrived" only to discover that one is just still searching, exploring, trying to achieve something intangible. Trying to achieve something totally magical, and when it is is achieved it seems like it happens effortlessly. Forget all the sweat, pain, studying, and endless analyzing, it just seems to flow and it is so sweet when it happens and you are captured by that particular moment, only to realize that it is in that moment that defines ones sense of self. Thanks Grandma.

"One Horse"
I met this horse on a trip out west and found him up in Alberta in Jasper National Park. He had such a fine quality and such dignity that I had to draw him and try to capture the spirit.
